Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz stated that as of February 28, the total debt commitment amounts to RM38.8 billion. The government has already paid RM13.31 billion but still needs RM17 billion to cover the remaining principal and interest through 2039.
