Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz announced a 77% increase in voluntary contributors to the EPF i-Saraan programme, reaching 599,000 in Q1 2022. He highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance social protection, including a minimum wage increase to RM1,500, aimed at improving quality of life. Emphasising the need for insurance and takaful coverage, Zafrul warned of potential socio-economic risks if Malaysia’s ageing population lacks financial security, urging EPF members to utilise i-Lindung for coverage.
