ASEAN POLICYMAKERS CONFERENCE ON STEEL & 2025 ASEAN IRON AND STEEL FORUM
Tengku Zafrul Aziz opened the ASEAN Policymakers Conference on Steel and ASEAN Iron and Steel Forum 2025, launching Malaysia’s Steel Industry Roadmap 2035. He stressed steel’s vital role in ASEAN’s growth, while highlighting challenges of overcapacity, imports, and decarbonisation. The Roadmap sets strategies to stabilise, transform, and green Malaysia’s steel sector by 2050. He called for ASEAN cooperation to build a fair, resilient, and sustainable regional steel industry.
