The Malaysian government is exploring new public-private partnerships between government-linked investment companies (GLICs) and global investors to enhance sustainable manufacturing and net-zero supply chains, according to Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz. This initiative aligns with the National Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030, aiming for inclusive economic growth. The government is also introducing the i-ESG framework to help SMEs adopt environmental, social, and governance practices, facilitating their participation in ESG-sensitive markets and supporting sustainable manufacturing. Execution and rapid technological adoption are deemed crucial for success.
