The National Industry Environmental, Social and Governance framework (i-ESG) for the manufacturing sector, set to launch by September 2023, aims to leverage Southeast Asia's growing green business opportunities, estimated at US$200 billion by 2030. Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz outlined four key components: standards, financial support, capacity building, and market mechanisms. He emphasised the need for financial institutions to support industries in areas such as decarbonisation and green technology to achieve Malaysia's net-zero target by 2050, while highlighting the importance of SMEs in this transition.
