Malaysia's Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia (BKM) programme is now the largest cash aid initiative in the country's history, with a total allocation of RM8.2 billion, surpassing previous BR1M and BSH programmes, says Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul. The BKM has expanded eligibility, covering households earning up to RM5,000 and benefiting 12.6 million individuals, or 60% of adults. An additional RM630 million was added to help offset rising living costs, with payments beginning on 27 June 2022.
